Sheraton Fiji: A Review of the Ultimate Family-Friendly Getaway

Thinking of taking your family to Fiji? We recently stayed at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort for our daughters’ first birthday, and here’s everything you need to know before booking your trip.

1. First Impressions: Warm Fijian Hospitality from the Start

The check-in process at the Sheraton starts right at the airport if you’re a Marriott Bonvoy member. They have a small office just as you exit, offering refreshments and assistance with transport. The staff were lovely—engaging with our daughter while we made ourselves a coffee and even notifying the front desk that we were on our way.

When we arrived, the staff were waiting with cold water bottles and a warm welcome. Check-in was smooth, and they were so friendly that they even held our daughter while we got sorted. The open-air lobby with stunning ocean views set the tone for a relaxing island escape.

Note: The Sheraton does not offer transfers, however getting a taxi is relatively quick and cheap.

2. Accommodation – Is It Family-Friendly?

We stayed in an Ocean Front Room on the ground floor, which was perfect for easy access to the resort’s main facilities while offering a peaceful retreat. There is a beautiful seating area just outside each room, an excellent escape for parents during nap times. The room itself is spacious and was easily able to fit a cot for our daughter, our travel pram, our luggage and still have room for our daughter to crawl around.

Baby friendly features:

✔️ Spacious Rooms: Plenty of space for little ones to move around.
✔️ Cribs & High Chairs: Available upon request.
✔️ Blackout curtains: Ensuring nap times are protected.
✔️ Quiet Environment: Well-soundproofed rooms making nap times stress-free.

The rooms at the Sheraton are newly renovated so they have a very fresh feel to them. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

3. Side-by-Side Kids Club

The Side-by-Side Kids Club is free for Marriott Bonvoy members (otherwise, a small hourly fee applies). If your child is over 3, you can drop them off anytime. For younger kids, parents must stay or hire a nanny (from FJD10/hour).

Kids Club Features:

✔️ Outdoor Play Area: Jungle gym, trampoline, and lots of sand.
✔️ Indoor Activities: Building blocks, books, painting, and drawing.
✔️ Daily Schedule: Skirt making, fire dancing, and basket weaving.
✔️ Movie Time: Around lunchtime, a cozy theater plays movies for older kids.

Our daughter loved playing with the blocks and exploring the space. The staff were amazing, actively engaging with her throughout our visit.

4. Dining Options for Families

Sheraton’s on-site restaurants are fantastic, offering fresh meals with lots of variety. Best of all, their restaurants are baby-friendly and offer a customisable kids menu.

Best Dining Options for Families:

  • Tatavu Grill & Bar: Great for family dinners with a beachfront view offering a majority seafood menu (limited vegetarian options). The staff are lovely and will go out of their way to entertain the kids. Tatavu is, however, on the pricier side of options but is a true island dinner experience.
  • 28g Coffee Hub: A lifesaver for coffee-loving parents needing a caffeine fix after an early start with the kids!
  • Wet Edge: Casual waterfront dining – great for lunch and dinner and is located right next to the pool. Offers lunch classics like club sandwiches, burgers, and fish & chips. Delicious & well priced.
  • Mamacita: Located in the Wyndham Hotel (about a 10min walk from the Sheraton), Mamacita offers an excellent selection of Mexican food, relaxed vibes and free-flowing drinks. They provide little colouring in packs for your kids too!
  • Heineken House Restaurant & Bar: Pub classics & wood-fired pizzas, very open, sports bar vibes. Plenty of space for the kids to run around!

Extra perks for families include:

✔️ High chairs and booster seats at all dining venues.
✔️ Kids under 4 eat free at some restaurants as part of the Marriott Bonvoy program.
✔️ Staff will happily help you keep the kids entertained whilst you’re enjoying your dinner.
✔️ Happy to heat up any baby food pouches or milk for your littles ones.

The Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort provides plenty of practical conveniences that make traveling with little ones easier:

✔️ Stroller-friendly pathways throughout the resort and also connecting into the other resorts nearby making it easy to find dinner options close by.
✔️ On-site medical assistance in case of minor emergencies.
✔️ Laundry service available, which is a game-changer for messy eaters and beach days.
✔️ Mini convenience store for baby essentials, snacks, and forgotten items.
✔️ Nanny services available, with two hours notice (and the nannies are incredible!). The nannies will happily look after your kids while you enjoy some much needed R&R – after all, it is your holiday too!
✔️ Fitness Centre, one for the parents but the fitness centre is brand new with the latest equipment and plenty of space.
✔️ Hotel Buggy to take you around the resort—our daughter loved the ride!

One thing to note: There are no microwaves in the rooms, but the staff were always happy to warm up baby food or milk for us. Alternatively, a microwave can also be hired for the duration of your stay at FJD20/day (prices based on time of stay).

6. Staff & Service – Are They Kid-Friendly?

Fijians are known for their warmth and hospitality, and the staff at the Sheraton well exceeded our expectations. They went out of their way to interact with our daughter — they always said hello (using her name), always waved to her, took her around the restaurant while we ate, and made sure all her breakfast preferences were available for her.

Given we were celebrating my daughters first birthday, the house-keeping team set up balloons in our room and left us a beautiful cake for our daughter. Almost all the staff wished her happy birthday – it was truly heartwarming to seeing how much love and attention she received.

7. Safety & Cleanliness

The resort maintains high cleanliness standards, and the pools, dining areas, and play spaces were always spotless. Note also, the rooms have no carpets (for anyone like me with dust allergies, this is a MAJOR win!)

Key Safety Features:

✔️ Lifeguards on duty at the main pools.
✔️ Well-lit pathways for evening strolls.
✔️ Secure gated entrance and 24/7 security.

If you’re concerned about food hygiene, we had zero issues—everything was fresh and well-prepared.

8. Value for Money – Is It Worth It for Families?

Whilst the Sheraton isn’t the cheapest option in Fiji, when you consider:

✅ Spacious family-friendly rooms
✅ Kids’ club & free activities
✅ Great dining options
✅ Prime beachfront location

it offers excellent value for families looking for a stress-free getaway.

Pro Tip: Highly recommend joining the Marriott Bonvoy program as it unlocks a number of benefits for its members (including free access to kids club, free kids meals for under 4s, access to members only events at the venue, etc)

9. Final Verdict – Should You Stay at Sheraton Fiji with Young Kids?

✔️ YES, if you want:

✅ A luxury resort that genuinely caters to families.
✅ Spacious rooms and kid-friendly dining options.
✅ A fantastic kids’ club and engaging activities.
✅ Beautiful beachfront views and a relaxing atmosphere.

Consider other options if:

  • You’re looking for a budget-friendly stay.
  • You prefer a smaller, boutique-style resort.

10. Practical Tips for Parents

✔️ Book a ground-floor room for easier stroller access.
✔️ Pack swim diapers—they’re available at the resort but pricey.
✔️ Visit in off-peak months (Feb–April) for better deals.
✔️ Use the kids’ club! Even an hour or two gives parents a much-needed break.
✔️ Catch the Fire Show (Tues & Thurs, 6:30 PM)—fun for the whole family!
✔️ Explore nearby hotels—walking paths connect Sheraton to Radisson Blu and beyond for more dining options.
✔️ Pack a small kettle if your baby is still on bottles and using formula as the rooms do not include this.
✔️ Check out our baby packing list if you’re ready to take the stress out of travel packing.
